Certified Nursing Assistant

Chisholm Trail Technology Center (CTTC) prepares students in core standards to complete certification.  Students in the first year will complete Medical Terminology, Anatomy-Physiology, Long-Term Care CNA, CPR BLS and Professional Development preparing students for success post-secondary to career readiness.  This career pathway will also allow the completer the opportunity to gain advanced standing credit in a licensed practical nurse career major.  Second-year students will add components to the certification such as Phlebotomy, Home Health Deeming, and Dementia Training.

BASIC MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Students learn the role of the basic medical assistant. They will learn a brief history of medicine, medical assistant characteristics, how to gather patient history information, and patient assessment, and minor office procedures assisting. Curriculum content will include practicing good ethical behavior, communication skills, phlebotomy, and other basic skills related to medical office assisting. Students use theory content in practical clinical experiences.

SHORT-TERM ADULTS

Long-term care CNA is a self-paced curriculum that begins the first Tuesday of every month and will take 91 hours to complete.

Home Health Deeming is an additional optional 16 hours after LTC.

Prerequisite for CMA, CMA CEU, ACMA – Insulin/Respiratory/Gastric must have a high school diploma or GED, current LTC certification with six months experience, and 18 years of age.
